KW Honolulu Temporarily Shuts Down Operations to Give Back to Local Community

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

Honolulu, HI - June 28, 2022

Keller Williams (KW), one of the biggest real estate firms globally, celebrated its annual R.E.D. Day last May 12. R.E.D. Day, which started in 2009, is an annual activity of all Keller Williams offices in the world that aims to Renew, Energize, and Donate in any form to the local community which they serve. This year, KW Honolulu (KWH) invited its agents and staff to participate in two events- a feeding program and a clean-up.

The feeding program, in partnership with Aloha Harvest, was conducted in Ka Makana Ali’i Shopping Center. Food bundles of quality excess food sourced from donors were redistributed to over 400 of less fortunate families and beneficiaries.

‘’I feel like we’re a part of something bigger than ourselves, bigger than the market centers, bigger than our company. We’re doing it for our community and the people who need help the most.’’, said Kristy Im, KW Honolulu CFO.

‘’It’s awesome to see the generosity of our teams and our partners to whom we’re grateful. Without their support, we will not be able to help the community and reach out to more people who need help.’’, added Chad Shimabukuro, KW Honolulu President and Principal Broker.

Afterward, Keller Williams Honolulu proceeded to a clean-up drive in a local park- which isn’t the first time the firm did such a thing. Partnered with the City and County of Honolulu, the firm helped take out invasive species in the hopes of restoring the area to what it’s supposed to be.

‘’We're so excited to have Keller Williams help in our Mālama Pu'uloa Program. They've been awesome to have community folk take a day off work and come help us out.’’, expressed Sandy Ward, Executive Director of Mālama Pu'uloa Program.

''I love what KW is trying to do and give back to Hawaii and restore the native culture and help our island here. I love how they're trying to integrate the KW culture with the island culture.'', said Cameron Malalis, KWH Realtor-Associate.

Commitment to community service has always been at the heart of Keller Williams’ culture. The teams’ utmost generosity and selfless service inspire the company to care for the community and serve more people beyond its agents, employees, and clients. KW hopes to continue helping the community and empowering its people through its R.E.D. Day program in the years to come.
